Astaxanthin is Not Just a Food Coloring
Astaxanthin is an FDA approved food coloring, but that is the least important thing about this reddy-pink carotenoid. You can get it a few ways, but the most well known source is lobsters, shrimp and crabs. Some fish do contain it - salmon, rainbow trout and bream, and it is unique to phaffia yeast (no other type of yeast has it).
